Canada Finishes Fifth at Pan American Cup Men's VB Tournament

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Nicholas Cundy of Edmonton and Gavin Schmitt of Okotoks, Alta., scored 14 points apiece on Saturday to lead Canada to a 25-15, 28-26, 25-10 victory over the Dominican Republic in the fifth place match at the Pan American Cup men’s volleyball tournament.



With the victory, Canada ends the tournament with two wins and two losses. Both its losses, to Brazil and Puerto Rico, were in five sets. Fred Winters of Victoria added 10 points for the victors.



It was the Canadian men’s national team’s first tournament for the 2010 season.

Le Canada termine cinquième à la Coupe panaméricaine de volleyball masculin



SAN JUAN, Porto-Rico – Nicholas Cundy, d’Edmonton, et Gavin Schmitt, d’Okotoks, en Alberta, ont marqué 14 points chacun, samedi, pour conduire le Canada à une victoire de 25-15, 28-26, 25-10 contre la République Dominicaine dans le match pour la cinquième place dans la Coupe panaméricaine de volleyball masculin.



Avec la victoire le Canada termine le tournoi avec un dossier de deux victoires et deux défaites. Les deux revers, contre le Brésil et Porto-Rico, ont été subi en cinq sets. Fred Winters, de Victoria, a ajouté 10 points pour les vainqueurs.



C’était le premier tournoi de la saison 2010 pour l’équipe nationale masculine canadienne.
