I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that Nicola Laniuk-Etter, a Volleyball Athlete from Surrey has been formally recognized with an ACE (Athlete Community Excellence) Leadership Award at the 2010 BC Summer Games. It was fantastic to receive Nicola’s nomination and learn more about her accomplishments as an athlete and as a leader at the Games and in her community.
The ACE Leadership Award has been created by BC Athlete Voice and Team BC to recognize the contribution BC Athletes make to their communities through leadership on and off the playing field. The ACE Leadership Award is presented to high performance athletes who make a significant contribution through their involvement as an effective leader, advocate or promoter of sport and physical activity for the benefit of the community. Athlete leaders play a crucial role in building healthy, productive and engaging communities and this is a great way of recognizing their efforts.
BC Athlete Voice would also like to thank you for your ongoing support for Leadership opportunities for athletes in your sport.
We look forward to Nicola continuing to be involved in leadership and bringing their skills, knowledge and passion back to her sports community. Sport has a tremendous way of bringing communities together for a multitude of health, social and economic benefits. We look forward to recognizing more athletes from Volleyball BC who play a leadership role in making these benefits a reality.
